ELISA OSSINO
Elisa Ossino is an architect and designer. She is Sicilian, she was trained in Milan, where she studied at the Polytechnic.
In 2006 you founded Elisa Ossino Studio, a structure with which you deal with residential and retail interiors, product design, art direction and set design. Her work combines geometric abstraction, monochrome, metaphysical and surrealist references, giving life to a coherent and allusive relationship between space, identified by the strong trait of her sign, light and objects. Elisa’s compositional style is inspired by a figure of suspension, recurring in the design lightness of each intervention. In your design activity you favor essential lines and geometries that translate into space into signs capable of conferring a marked scenographic sense.
Her works have been published in Italy and abroad and exhibited in prestigious locations and galleries. In 2016, some of her design projects were exhibited at the “W-Women in Italian Design” exhibition at the ninth edition of the Triennale Design Museum. Over the years you have received various national and international awards including the EDIDA 2020-Elle Deco International Awards-with the Balnea project for Salvatori in the Bathrooms category; since 2019 she has been included among the “Top 100 Interior Designers of the Year” by AD. The popup store designed for Hermes won the 2021 ‘Prix Versailles’. In 2021 she was named ‘Designer of the Year’ by Elle Decor Japan.
The Erei Zone project for De Padova won the Archiproducts Design Award 2023 together with the Spaghetti projects for Salvatori and iChing for Tubes, also nominated for the 2024 ‘Compasso d’Oro’. The Nostalghia carpet designed for Amini was nominated ‘Best in Floor Covering’ from Elle Decor Japan in 2023.
Alongside the activity of her Studio, Elisa Ossino continues a research that led her in 2004 to create with other partners Nume, a design brand for children, for which she designed the furniture collection. In 2010 you set up the Officina Temporanea project with others, which relates design and artistic expression, identifying social issues as one of the main areas of interest. In 2019 you are the co-founder of H + O, a brand dedicated to surface design, multidisciplinary exhibitions and installations that explore new languages for interiors and contemporary ways of living and inaugurate the gallery apartment located in the historic Brera district in Milan.
Since 2016 she has been a professor at the IUAV University of Venice in the Master “Interactive Media for Interior Design” and since 2021 at the Istituto Marangoni in the Master of Product Design.
Among the directions that you have recently given to your work there is a renewed interest in the linguistic potential of the visual arts and multimedia.
